In February 2000, Estafeta Carga Aérea
(ECA) was founded as a division of Estafeta.
Under concession of the Secretariat of
Communications and Transportation of Mexico
(Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes) it offers regular cargo and postal
services to the public.
With a fleet that comprises 5 Boeing 737 and
2 Bombardier CRJ 100, ECA services 14 air
terminals; its 47 ground connections to San
Luis Potosí International Airport (AISLP) and
50 more to other airports allow ECA to offer
its services in 196 cities.
In February 2002, ECA started offering its
airport-to-airport international air cargo
services, launching scheduled flights from
and to U.S. and connections via third party
airlines worldwide. In order to consolidate its
services, ECA affiliated to IATA (International
Air Transport Association) and settled
interlineal agreements.
During the first year of ECA's operations it
shipped 9,857 tons of cargo; in 2010, ECA's
shipping cargo volume reached 36,247 tons, a
figure that positions it among the three major
air cargo operators in Mexico.
